ABSTRACT
The New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (1958) is heralded as the bedrock of international arbitration, enshrining the principles of finality, uniformity, and judicial restraint. Yet, the issue of post-award interest has exposed fault lines in the Convention's enforcement framework. Through a comparative analysis of jurisdictions primarily rooted in the common law tradition -including the United States, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, and others, this paper critically evaluates whether post-award interest falls within the realm of procedural enforcement or constitutes an impermissible modification of the arbitral award.
